Apologies for not posting for over a month - I really have nothing to show, despite working away at various projects over the past weeks. I've just completed a painting that I am very proud of...but can't show it as it is a surprise birthday present for someone. The birthday is in December, so I am going to have to sit on it for months...
I've been knitting and crocheting things for Nudinits - again, can't show them for a while.
Hopefully my next painting can be posted on here!
Other than the above, I've been struggling to keep the garden going throughout this heat - it's definitely not doing as well as previous years. No courgettes this year, the plants withered and died before reaching any size. Runner beans - lots of leaves, very few flowers. Tomatoes- slow to get going, we should have some soon. Greengages - absolute glut of them, I was giving them away in the end. We've had jam, crumbles, chutney, frozen some - best year ever for those. Blueberries - small and shrivelled due to lack of rain. Gooseberries - eaten by the birds. Raspberries - pretty good, but over now. Cucumbers - getting a few of the mini ones, which are tasty. Pumpkins - first time growing them, three plants in the front garden which have gone a bit mad - thankfully they are the mini versions and we should have at least five or six come the autumn...if they don't get stolen!
It's the watering that gets me. We haven't got an outside tap so I have to do umpteen watering can trips. And I'm not even growing fruit and veg so goodness knows how the watering is for you!
ReplyDeleteWe put in a rain butt during the winter - of course it's barely rained this summer, so it's been a hose job a lot of the time. Thankfully, even though it's stuffed to the gills, our garden is very small!
