Birthday Blue

It was my sister's birthday yesterday - we won't go into how old she is, but she's older than me...
She's had a tough time of it lately; living in Greece has not been a bundle of laughs over the past year with ever decreasing finances and ever increasing taxes, social unrest and general chaos.  To add to the misery, she had her house burgled a few weeks ago and anything that wasn't nailed down was taken, including her jewellery.

I thought it might be nice to have something made especially for her to kick-start a new collection, so commissioned a gorgeous focal bead from the talented Kaz at Cheeky Cherub Designs.  I wracked my brain for days thinking how to show it off to it's best advantage without detracting from the bead itself - I'm out of practise when it comes to jewellery-making these days.  I hope I have achieved it!

What Lies Beneath......

I've just been watching the movie 'What Lies Beneath' while making a bracelet - do you think it influenced my creativity in any way?? Actually, I have had the hammered silver teardrop shapes for quite a while with the intention of making a necklace, but this evening I felt like making a bracelet instead. It is made up of S shaped links with the hammered teardrops alternating with light blue glass teardrop beads and interspersed with clear seed beads. When worn it looks fluid and water-like, lovely against a tanned wrist.

If you are interested, this is £10 + P&P SOLD!....BUT I am in the process of setting up an Etsy shop (stop sniggering - you know who you are...) and computer dunce that I am, it's taking me a while. I have got as far as setting up the page, banner & profile, but not had the time to load up items for sale - a fairly important part of the process really! It will be done very soon, I promise, then there will be the grand opening....

In the meantime, I will be at All Saints School Summer Fair this Saturday 21st June, Heatherside School Summer Fair on the 28th June, and Zebon Copse Community Fair on the 6th July, all in Fleet/Church Crookham.

Blue Butterflies & Red Roses

I've had these two hand-made glass butterflies for years - we bought them in Devon at Marble World (I think that's what it was called). I've never known what to do with them until now - I spent the afternoon fashioning them into a pair of earrings. They are on gold wire with matching blue glass hearts and beads. They are £8 + P&P

This is my Dark Rose bag - remember the yarn I got on Sunday? Well, the two balls of varigated red just cried out to be made into this completely OTT little bag. It is knitted, with knitted roses and leaves together with black beads, sequins and flowers sewn on, as well as a long red satin cord handle and just to top it off, a pair of sexy tassels. Too much? Who cares! It is also lined with some rather lovely Liberty rose print cotton. It will be on my stall Sunday, but if you'd like to grab it first, it's £20 + P&P

I shall be manning a stall at Calthorpe Park School Companion Dog Show in Fleet, Sunday 11th May 12- 3p.m. There will be a selection of the knitted and felt dogs and cats, jewellery and examples of pet portraits. Let's hope the weather keeps up!
