My Favourite Bear...
I completed this yesterday - a painting of Grazer and her cubs, also known as bear 128 at Katmai National Park in Alaska. Painted with Derwent Inktense pencils on watercolour paper. This was a short interlude between commissions, much needed as I find working on other people's choices quite stifling creatively if done for too long. I'm now refreshed and ready to tackle the next pet portrait!

It's Here!!
Look what came in the post today! My copy of the Nudinits book, a couple of weeks before it is published.
It's got my name in it and everything!
Front and back.
There are patterns, stories, lots of double and triple entendres, pictures and things to make you laugh. It can be pre-ordered from the Nudinits website.
I'm a little bit over-excited....
Also been putting in some hours on this - it's nearly done.

Bearly There...
Sometimes I get an overwhelming urge to paint something and it has to get done, no matter what else is on the agenda. This painting is one of those! It is of a mother bear and her cub at Katmai National Park in Alaska, and I am using a photograph taken by one of the commenters on the Explore.org forum who actually went there this summer. I'm using Derwent Inktense pencils, one of my favourite mediums. Trying to squeeze this in amongst actual paid work has been interesting...I'm afraid housework and gardening has had to take a back seat, but there's nothing wrong with that!

Double Trouble...
...except this wasn't trouble at all, it was great fun - I always enjoy a dog portrait. Derwenr Drawing Pencils on tinted watercolour paper.
If you fancy a pet portrait do get in touch, but if it is for Christmas, I only have a couple of slots left for pencil/watercolours only.

One Down, One To Go...
I completed the first dog in this double portrait today - now on to the saluki. I had a bit of a problem when I first attempted the saluki, burst into tears unexpectedly as it reminded me too much of Clovis. I think I can hold myself together this time!

Owl...
Although I've not been blogging much lately, I have been busy. This week I designed and knitted a small owl - it was quite difficult! The wings were the problem, it took me several attempts to get them how I wanted them and at one point I was wondering if I would ever get them right. Thankfully, after a lot of thinking and workings out, they finally ended up looking like wings and not amorphous lumps!

Prints!
Just got the prints back from the shop - they did a pretty good job overall. I know the chicken painting was a hard one to replicate and there have been a few variations on the original colours, but nothing too drastic or noticeable.
I have to do a few little extra touches on these and then they are ready to go to their new homes.
While I was getting the chickens printed, the shop had a bit of a special offer if I bought 3 prints, so I had one done of my Wild Water Horse painting. It came out very nicely and is now for sale in my Etsy shop - it's bigger than the original, and half the price!
It is printed on stretched canvas and ready to hang as it is or can be framed.
If you fancy having a print of one of my paintings, get in touch, we can talk!
