So There You Are!

Look!  One lone tomato flower!  Nestling in a hanging basket variety.  I think I  can safely say I have lost the tomato challenge with Soggibottom, but I am very happy that at least one of my tomato plants is doing something.
And Audrey has finally burst open to reveal salmon pink petals - wow, it only took her about five years to get this far.

I've had a bit of an enforced break from the knitted animals this week - ran out of kapok and the good old Royal Mail took 5 days longer to deliver a package from Ireland to the UK than from the UK to the USA.  But it arrived today so I am back in business - knitted cow here I come!

I waited till May 1st to plant my flower seeds. Then the weather immediately turned cold again and so far none of them have germinated. It's been a tough year for growing things.

Yay! Well done Caroline - don't give up hope, they may well catch up! You never know, the West (where I know Soggibottom lives) is much cloudier and rainy than the East at the moment, tomatoes need sunshine! I'm not sure I know where you are (apologies if I've forgotten!)

Hi Sue D - ah but Soggibottom has a greenhouse, mine are against the elements! We are in the S.East so it has been pretty sunny since Easter & before.

I waited till the middle of March with mine, so yours are still bigger than the ones I planted (they're only a couple of inches high). :-) The weather has been good here too, but very dry. I've only just planted out my courgettes, cucumbers and beans... the tomatoes are still too small to go in the ground. :-( xoxo

Oh gosh, you ARE doing very well without a greenhouse. You need some kind of scoring system like a golf handicap that takes no greenhouse into account! 10-15 days? ;-)

Good luck with the cow. Yes the postal service is a bit crud at the mo.

I had a flower on my outdoor tomato but it did come in during the thunder storm.

Er.... scuse me ladies :-)..... Not all are in the greenhouse :-) Most of the one's that now have baby tomato's ARE, I have to admit :-) :-)
I'm easy going normally, a bit of competition brings out the worst in me :-)

Just cos we have tomato's doesn't mean we have picked any... :-)

Competition is still on :-) xxxx
