Are You Taking The Mickey, Amazon? (or a possible explanation to the dwindling rainforests....)

I've been waiting with excited anticipation for the delivery of a couple of books this week - one to read and one full of knitted lace patterns. However, when the Parcelforce delivery man rang the doorbell this morning and I saw the size of the box he was holding, my heart sank. Had I had an attack of the shakes while ordering and my finger inadvertantly pressed 11 instead of 1? It didn't weigh like it was full of books though........

.........there did seem to be an awful lot of scrunched up paper protecting whatever was inside.......

........about 4 yards of it! But there, at the bottom of the enormous box, nestling under this giant wad of paper, were my books.

Is it just me, or was this the most ridiculous waste? I am completely dumbfounded.......

I've had that kind of Amazon packaging before. I reckon they must run out of their normal book-wrap packs and temporarily resort to the boxes.

Either that or some numpty was working in the packing department on the day your order went out!

It is a waste, but one thing I will say is that the boxes are such good quality that you can unfold them flat, store them and re-use them when you need a decent box.

I'm opting for the numpty explanation!
(Better go and hoik the box back out of the recycling box then......)

dreadful! How bad is that for the environment!
Hope you enjoy "the Road" Caroline! :0)))
I also read"Let the right one in" on hols which has been made into a film too. A good read as well.

They make great boats/cars/carnes depending on what mood Leon is in! Then recycled. I find the amazon packaging really irritating, Leon had some books for his birthday , they were 2 soft backed picture books that came in a box that was almost big enough for him to lie down in. Great addition toy but a waste!
The Road is an amazing book btw, stick with it :0)

Maybe Victorian Lace is too large for their usual book-wrap cardboard? It is kinda weird in dimensions.

I have been wondering about Amazon's packing regime. One week you get three books in a sort of flat pack packaging, the next the box is big enough for someone (small) to live in. It's a total waste and inconceivable.

Can't wait to hear your reports on the Victorian lace book! Hope my books arrive soon... Obviously all postmen in Cambridge are on holiday, it was dispatched on Saturday!

I'm not too much into dressing up animals either - but our dog still has only puppy fur, and last week when we went to our doggy meet and it was drizzling rain, he was shivering half the evening. Plus he isn't really cut out for the Scandinavian winter either, being bred in the fox-hunting Britain ^_^
