Wow Potatoes!!
Yes, these potatoes really are this colour inside and out - isn't that amazing? I can't help wondering what blue mashed potato would be like.....
This is almost the last potato painting for the winter until they start growing again in the late Spring. I shall miss doing them - they are kind of therapeutic and very undemanding without being dull. On the other hand, I look forward to the chance to get on with some wildlife painting - it feels like a very long time since I painted something just for me. I just have the double horse portrait to finish this weekend and then I am 'free' and with a trip to the zoo coming up at the end of next week, I am looking forward to getting some reference photos ready.
However, if any of you have been patiently waiting for me to finish all the outstanding work before asking for a commission, then now is the time to jump in as I will certainly not refuse!

Wow! I have never seen blue potatoes. Where do they grow?
Hi Sallie,
All the potatoes I have been painting have been grown at a specialist potato farm in Scotland. I have some more blue potatoes to paint this week that came from a French market - maybe they are more enlightened on the Continent than us Brits!

I wonder if the blue potatoes keep their color when they are cooked. Wouldn't blue chips be fun? Kids would love them (as if they didn't love regular chips enough already).
Hi Sallie - I'll find out later this week, as I have some more blue potatoes to paint and have been told I can eat them afterwards if I like - I'll let you know how I get on....
Caroline
Hi Caroline, the potatoes are as stylish as ever. They look good enough to eat. Oh, and the blue ones should keep their colour although mine went a bit more purple.
